Patricia Asensio Calavia is a predoctoral researcher at the Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (IPNA-CSIC) and a recipient of a predoctoral fellowship from the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation, and the Information Society (ACIISI). Her research focuses on the discovery of novel antimicrobial peptides produced by fish, known as piscidins, and the evaluation of their antimicrobial and antitumor activities.
She holds a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from the University of Lleida (Udl) and a Master's degree in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics from the Open University of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona (UOC/UB). During her academic training, she conducted research at the University of Florence, investigating MCPyV gene mutations in tumor tissues. As part of her predoctoral studies, she completed a research stay at the Institute of Molecular Medicine in Lisbon, where she specialized in tumor cell culture techniques and flow cytometry.
